DR. WILDERMAN: Teeth whitening is probably the single most requested service that we get here in the office. It's probably also the least expensive way you can permanently change the way you look. We have easy-to-whiten teeth, we have difficult-to-whiten teeth, yellow translucent teeth. Young teeth are very easy to whiten. Gray, opaque, older teeth are much more difficult to whiten. But we have different methods to use to custom whiten anyone's smile of any age.
We have three or four different options that we can use to whiten somebody's teeth. For the last 20 years, at-home tray whitening has been the most popular. That's been the standard procedure that most people have done. It works best on easy-to-whiten teeth, people that have yellow translucent teeth. At-home whitening is a great option because it's also the least expensive option.
Some people don't like the mess of dealing with trays and they want an instant result. For those people, we have Zoom and Bright Smile teeth whitening. We can change the color of your teeth 10, 12 shades lighter in just about an hour. That works also best on easy-to-whiten teeth.
For the more difficult cases, the latest advancement in teeth whitening is called core whitening deep bleaching system. With core whitening, that's for people who want the whitest possible teeth that we can get, for the more difficult-to-whiten teeth, for people that have tried other methods of teeth whitening and didn't get the results that they want. And it's the only method that we use to whiten tetracycline stained teeth.
People feel more confident when you have a nice smile, and teeth whitening is just one method to use to get people more confident. When we do an in-office procedure that takes about an hour, the look in their face when they see their teeth for the first time is priceless. It's like, "Wow."
